Christopher Damron Obituary: 42-Year-Old Dies After Shooting During Altercation in New Philadelphia, Ohio

The incident occurred shortly after 4 p.m. on September 20, 2026, at a home located at 238 Second Street SW in New Philadelphia.
According to New Philadelphia Police Chief Tessa Pohovey, the incident began with a physical altercation between two men who knew each other. Both men sustained injuries during the confrontation, but Damron was the only person who was shot.
Officers responded to the residence after receiving several 911 hang-up calls, followed by a report that a man had been shot. Police apprehended one man at the scene and provided medical assistance to Damron before personnel from the New Philadelphia Fire Department arrived.
Both men were transported to a hospital for treatment. Despite medical efforts, Damron later died at Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital.
