The Middletown, Maryland community is mourning the loss of Michael Bradley “Mike” Poole, a beloved former volunteer firefighter, skilled craftsman, and friend whose life was defined by service, generosity, and dedication to those around him. Mike passed away surrounded by loved ones on Sunday, July 19, 2026, following a courageous battle with cancer. He was 32 years old.

News of Mike’s passing has brought deep sadness throughout Frederick County, where he was known for his kindness, humor, strong work ethic, and willingness to help anyone in need. Friends, family, and fellow firefighters are remembering a man whose impact extended far beyond his years.

Mike dedicated more than a decade of service to the Middletown Volunteer Fire Company (Company 7), proudly serving as an active volunteer firefighter from 2012 until 2023. During his years with the department, he answered countless emergency calls and contributed his time and skills to protecting the community he called home.

Beyond his service as a firefighter, Mike was admired for the person he was outside of the station. Those who knew him described him as dependable, hardworking, and someone who could always be counted on. Whether helping with a project, offering advice, or simply bringing laughter to those around him, Mike had a way of making people feel valued.

Friends remembered him as a natural problem-solver with a passion for working with his hands. His craftsmanship, attention to detail, and willingness to lend assistance made him the person many turned to when they needed support.

Mike also cherished the simple moments of life, including time spent with friends and family, outdoor adventures, camping, and creating memories with those closest to him. His humor and positive spirit left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

He leaves behind a legacy of service, friendship, and compassion that will continue through his family, longtime friends, and the Middletown Volunteer Fire Company community.

A celebration of Mike’s life will be held on Friday, July 24, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Middletown Volunteer Fire Company Activities Building, located at 1 Firemen’s Lane, Middletown, Maryland.

As the community remembers Michael Bradley Poole, condolences are extended to his family, friends, fellow firefighters, and all who are grieving this tremendous loss. His dedication, laughter, and generous spirit will never be forgotten. May he rest in peace.
