Daria Serkov Bicycle Accident: Daria Serkov, 15, Dies After Bicycle Collision With Truck in Manhattan’s East Village
With hearts heavy with sorrow, we remember Daria Serkov, 15, whose young life was tragically cut short Friday night following a devastating bicycle crash in Manhattan’s East Village.
The collision happened at approximately 9 p.m. near East 14th Street and First Avenue, close to Stuyvesant Town. According to the New York Police Department, Daria was riding a bicycle with another 16-year-old girl when the two bicycles collided with a commercial truck while both riders were turning north onto First Avenue.
Police said the truck involved was a 2021 Peterbilt operated by a 58-year-old man, who was also making a right turn at the time of the crash.
Daria suffered fatal injuries in the collision and was pronounced deceased. The other teenager involved was injured and transported to NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue for medical treatment.
At just 15 years old, Daria had so much life ahead of her—dreams still waiting to be pursued, memories still waiting to be made, and countless moments that her family and loved ones hoped to share with her.
