W. Loran Road Crash: One Dead, Two Seriously Injured After Sedan Hits Cattle in Stephenson County
A fatal traffic crash on W. Loran Road in rural Stephenson County early Monday morning, September 7, 2026, left one person dead and two others seriously injured after a Ford sedan collided with cattle in the roadway
According to the Stephenson County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to the area of W. Loran Road and S. Lott Road at approximately 2:21 a.m. after an iPhone crash detection alert was received.

When deputies arrived at the scene, they found a Ford sedan with extensive damage in a ditch on the north side of Loran Road. Approximately 15 cattle were also found in the roadway.

The crash resulted in one fatality, while two other people sustained serious injuries. Emergency responders worked at the scene following the collision.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash, including how the cattle came to be in the roadway.

The incident serves as a tragic reminder of the dangers posed by animals entering rural roadways, particularly during overnight hours when visibility can be limited.
