Pittsburgh Shooting: Shaelynn Maria Moore and Mark Allen Jones Found Dead in Northview Heights Apartment
A domestic violence-related shooting in Pittsburgh’s Northview Heights neighborhood has left two people dead and four children unharmed, as police investigate the incident as a possible murder-suicide.
Pittsburgh police responded to a ShotSpotter alert on Hazlett Street on August 12 and discovered 30-year-old Shaelynn Maria Moore and 24-year-old Mark Allen Jones suffering from fatal gunshot wounds inside an apartment.
According to investigators, witnesses reported a domestic altercation before the shooting. Evidence gathered at the scene indicated that gunfire began outside the apartment before continuing inside.
Four children, ages 11, 9, 7 and 7, were reportedly inside the apartment when the shooting occurred. Police said the children were physically unharmed.
Police Investigating Possible Murder-Suicide
Authorities said they were investigating the deaths of Moore and Jones as a possible murder-suicide. Police also confirmed that there were no outstanding suspects and no continuing threat to the wider public.
Investigators continued working to establish the exact circumstances that led to the deadly shooting, including the relationship between Moore and Jones and what happened immediately before the gunfire.
The investigation remains ongoing, and additional details may be released as authorities continue gathering evidence and speaking with witnesses.
