The Douglas, Massachusetts, community is mourning the unexpected loss of Mark C. Correia, who passed away on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at the age of 58. His sudden passing has left an immeasurable void in the hearts of his family, friends, coworkers, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. Remembered for his generous spirit, compassionate heart, and genuine love for people, Mark leaves behind a legacy that will endure for generations.

Born on September 25, 1967, in Worcester, Massachusetts, Mark was the beloved son of Richard and Mary (Taraskieviwcz) Correia of Shrewsbury. Throughout his life, he embraced every opportunity to build meaningful relationships, finding joy in meeting new people, hearing their stories, and creating lasting memories with those he cared about.

Nothing meant more to Mark than his family. His greatest pride and joy was his daughter, Erin Grace Correia, whom he loved unconditionally. Their bond grew even stronger after the passing of Erin’s mother, Cynthia (Danahey) Correia, in 2018. Together, father and daughter faced life’s greatest challenges, supporting one another through grief while creating a friendship built on love, trust, and unwavering devotion.

In later years, Mark found happiness again with his beloved partner, Nicole Hamel. Together they shared countless adventures, traveling, exploring new places, and filling everyday life with laughter, companionship, and cherished memories. Their relationship brought renewed joy and hope into Mark’s life.

Professionally, Mark dedicated 32 years to National Grid, where he built an outstanding career serving in quality assurance, quality control, employee and labor relations, and ultimately as Manager of Gas and Electric Customer Metering Services. Colleagues admired his leadership, integrity, and willingness to mentor others. He looked forward to retirement, hoping to spend even more time traveling and enjoying life with Nicole.

Mark is survived by his daughter Erin, his partner Nicole, his parents Richard and Mary, his siblings Brian Correia, Lynn Lagace, and Wayne Correia, along with nieces, extended family, lifelong friends, and many coworkers whose lives he positively influenced.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester, Massachusetts. Visitation begins at 3:00 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 4:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made in Mark’s memory to Best Friends Animal Society, reflecting his lifelong compassion for animals.

Though his passing came unexpectedly, Mark C. Correia’s legacy of kindness, generosity, laughter, and unconditional love will continue to live on through the countless people whose lives he touched. He will be deeply missed, forever remembered, and always cherished.
