Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department Employee Brett Martin Dies After Being Struck on Interstate 95 While Assisting Disabled Motorist
A tragic incident on Interstate 95 has claimed the life of Brett Martin, 51, an employee of the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department, after he was struck by a vehicle while attempting to assist a stranded motorist.
According to investigators, Martin had stopped along the southbound side of Interstate 95 after noticing a disabled vehicle. Authorities said he was crossing the highway to provide assistance to the motorist when he was struck by a passing vehicle.
Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene and rendered aid, but Martin sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead.
