The Dayton, Ohio, community is mourning the heartbreaking and unexpected passing of Ryan Matthew Mullen, who died on July 19, 2026, at the age of 20. A gifted aspiring musician, devoted son, cherished brother, and loyal friend, Ryan leaves behind a legacy of compassion, creativity, and love that will continue to inspire everyone whose life he touched.

Born on January 14, 2006, Ryan graduated from Catholic Central High School as a member of the Class of 2024. Following graduation, he moved to Nashville, Tennessee, with the determination to pursue his lifelong dream of building a career in music. In 2024, he proudly released his first EP, a milestone that reflected not only his musical talent but also his dedication, perseverance, and belief in chasing his dreams.

For Ryan, music was much more than a passion—it was his voice and a powerful way to connect with others. Through songwriting and sharing his creativity, he expressed his emotions, experiences, and unique perspective with authenticity and heart. His commitment to music reflected the passion and determination that defined so much of who he was.

Beyond his musical journey, Ryan embraced life with enthusiasm and appreciation for the moments that mattered most. He enjoyed staying active through fitness, discovering new restaurants, spending quality time with family and friends, and taking peaceful walks surrounded by nature. He found happiness in simple pleasures and treasured the memories created with the people he loved.

Those closest to Ryan remember him for his gentle spirit, compassion, and selfless nature. He had a rare ability to make others feel welcomed, valued, and understood. When someone faced a difficult moment, Ryan was always ready to offer encouragement, support, or simply a listening ear. His kindness, empathy, and unwavering loyalty made him a treasured friend and a source of comfort to many.

Ryan is lovingly survived by his parents, Matt and Susan Mullen; his sister, Mallory Mullen; his grandfather, Bill “Moo Moo” Groeber; his grandmother, Chris “Ninny” Mullen; his uncles, Pete Mullen and Chris Groeber; his aunts, Jenny Groeber and Amy Groeber; his cousin, Cassandra Mullen; and many extended family members and close friends.

He was preceded in death by his beloved grandparents, Carol “GG” Groeber and Pete “Pop” Mullen.

Although Ryan’s life was tragically brief, the love he shared, the music he created, and the lives he influenced will never be forgotten. His memory will continue to live on through his family, friends, and the countless people inspired by his creativity, kindness, and passion for life.
