According to updates from Massachusetts State Police, a law enforcement investigation remained active after a suspect allegedly connected to the earlier shooting was involved in a standoff situation along I-495 near Woburn Street and Exit 92. Both directions of the highway were temporarily shut down as officers responded to the incident.
Police activity began after reports of an assault and shots fired near the Highland Commons shopping plaza area along the Hudson-Burlington line. A heavy police presence was reported as multiple agencies responded to the scene and worked to secure the area.
During the highway response, troopers requested emergency medical services to stage nearby, deployed spike strips, and reported locating a vehicle in the median and surrounding wooded area. Authorities also requested traffic diversions near I-93 and Route 3 while officers continued their investigation.
Officials also advised pedestrians to move away from the Woburn Street overpass due to safety concerns during the active police operation. Massachusetts State Police Air Wing personnel were requested to assist in searching nearby wooded areas after reports of movement in the area.
