Laderrick Jones Obituary: 24-Year-Old Dies After Shooting on North Highland Avenue in Jackson, Tennessee
In loving memory of 24-year-old Laderrick Jones, whose life was tragically cut short following a shooting on Monday afternoon at 2018 North Highland Avenue in Jackson, Tennessee. At approximately 12:27 p.m., officers with the Jackson Police Department responded to a report of a shooting and found Laderrick in a parking lot suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was rushed to a local hospital in critical condition, where doctors and medical staff worked to save his life. Sadly, despite those efforts, Laderrick succumbed to his injuries.
Some losses are difficult to put into words. They arrive suddenly, leaving behind an emptiness that words cannot easily fill. Laderrick was only 24 years old—an age when life should still be unfolding, dreams should still be taking shape, and tomorrow should still feel full of possibilities. Instead, a promising young life came to a heartbreaking end.
The circumstances surrounding his death have left a community facing another painful reminder of how quickly life can change. One moment can become a memory, and one afternoon can become a date forever etched into the hearts of those who knew and remembered him.
Throughout Monday night, investigators with the Jackson Police Department’s Major Crimes Division worked to identify those involved. An adult suspect surrendered to police around 9:00 p.m., while a juvenile suspect was later located and taken into custody. Authorities said all suspects involved are currently in custody, while the investigation remains ongoing.
But beyond the investigation, beyond the headlines and beyond the circumstances of that tragic afternoon, there is a name worth remembering: Laderrick Jones.
May his name never disappear into silence. May the memories of his life remain stronger than the tragedy that ended it. And may those grieving his passing find comfort in every cherished memory, every photograph, every story, and every moment that keeps his presence alive.
