BATON ROUGE, Louisiana — Authorities are investigating a fatal two-vehicle crash that claimed the life of 22-year-old Malachi Antoine on Tuesday morning along Perkins Road in Baton Rouge.
According to the Baton Rouge Police Department, the collision occurred at approximately 7:25 a.m. near Bles Avenue, on a stretch of Perkins Road located between Bluebonnet Boulevard and Essen Lane.
Investigators said a Chevrolet Impala was traveling eastbound on Perkins Road at what appeared to be a high rate of speed when the vehicle left the roadway on the right side. The Impala reportedly struck a curb before overturning and colliding with a Dodge Ram.
Emergency responders arrived quickly at the scene and provided aid to those involved in the crash. Antoine was transported to a local hospital for treatment, but despite medical efforts, he later succumbed to his injuries.
A second individual involved in the collision suffered critical injuries and was also transported for medical care. Authorities have not released the identity of that person, and no further information regarding their condition has been made public.
