Columbia Shooting Today: Police Investigate Fatal Bailey Street Shooting After Victim Found With Gunshot Wound
Columbia, South Carolina — Police are investigating a fatal overnight shooting in Columbia after a male victim was found suffering from an apparent gunshot wound in the 6300 block of Bailey Street.
According to preliminary information released by authorities, Richland County Sheriff’s Department (RCSD) deputies heard gunfire coming from a nearby parking lot at The Colony Apartments. Deputies responded to the area and discovered a vehicle that had crashed into a building along Bailey Street.
Inside or near the vehicle, deputies found a male driver suffering from what appeared to be a gunshot wound. Emergency assistance was immediately provided, including CPR, as authorities worked to save the victim.
The victim was transported by emergency medical personnel to Prisma Health Richland Hospital. Despite efforts to save his life, he was later pronounced deceased at the hospital.
