Tristan Tucker, William Simms, Tyler Kersey-Huffman, Titus Gould & Braden Taylor, GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. — The Grand Junction community is mourning the deaths of five 17-year-old boys who were killed after their vehicle went over a cliff and crashed into a hillside late Saturday night.
The Mesa County Coroner’s Office identified the victims as Tristan Tucker, William Simms, Tyler Kersey-Huffman, Titus Gould and Braden Taylor.
According to authorities, all five teenagers died from injuries sustained in the crash. An autopsy report confirmed the cause of death as injuries resulting from the collision.
Three of the teenagers were students at Grand Junction High School, while the other two had connections to the District 51 community, according to the school district.
Grand Junction Police said two of the victims were not wearing seat belts at the time of the crash and were thrown from the vehicle. Investigators continue to examine the circumstances leading up to the tragedy, with police indicating that speed may have been a contributing factor.
The deaths have brought profound grief to the families, classmates, teachers and friends of the five teenagers. With the new school year beginning, the tragedy has been especially painful for the Grand Junction school community.
