John Collett earned the Bronze Star Medal with Valor for his heroic actions during the 1993 Battle of Mogadishu in Somalia, one of the U.S. military’s most significant modern combat operations, later depicted in the acclaimed film Black Hawk Down. His bravery under fire and dedication to his fellow soldiers earned him the respect and admiration of those who served alongside him.
Despite sustaining injuries while attending the Special Forces Qualification Course, Collett remained steadfast in his commitment to the military community. After retiring from active service, he continued to serve in new capacities, working as a military consultant and stuntman on the production of Black Hawk Down, helping ensure the film accurately portrayed the courage and sacrifice of American Rangers and Special Operations forces.
Beyond his distinguished military career, Collett devoted himself to improving the lives of veterans through the Three Rangers Foundation, an organization dedicated to honoring warriors, supporting veterans, and creating meaningful opportunities for those who served their country.
