SALYERSVILLE, Kentucky — The Magoffin County community is mourning the tragic loss of Malcolm Joseph Barry III, a 63-year-old Salyersville resident who died Monday following a mobile home accident in Magoffin County.

According to the Magoffin County Coroner’s Office, emergency medical personnel, rescue crews, and law enforcement officers were dispatched to Calvin Cain Trailer Court at approximately 2:51 p.m. after receiving reports of a mobile home accident.

Authorities said Barry became trapped during the incident and was discovered by co-workers and witnesses, who immediately contacted Magoffin County 911 for assistance. Despite the response of emergency personnel, Magoffin County Coroner Mark Jenkins pronounced Barry dead at the scene.

Following the incident, Barry was transported to the Kentucky Medical Examiner’s Office in Frankfort, where an autopsy is scheduled to determine the exact cause of death.

Officials have confirmed that the accident remains under active investigation. The Magoffin County Coroner’s Office, the Magoffin County Sheriff’s Office, and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) are jointly investigating the circumstances surrounding the fatal workplace incident. Authorities have not released additional details regarding how the accident occurred.

News of Barry’s death has saddened family members, friends, co-workers, and residents throughout Magoffin County, where many are remembering him and extending condolences to his loved ones.
