The Newmarket, New Hampshire, community and the wider hockey world are mourning the passing of Chris Davidson, a respected coach, mentor, and leader in youth hockey development. Davidson, who served as General Manager of the Seacoast Spartans and Academy Director at Seacoast Performance Academy, died on Sunday, July 19, 2026, at the age of 50 following a courageous battle with Stage 4 colon cancer and serious medical complications.
For decades, Chris Davidson dedicated his life to developing young athletes and helping players grow both on and off the ice. To him, hockey was more than a game — it was an opportunity to build character, create lifelong relationships, and provide guidance to generations of players throughout New England.
Chris’s connection to hockey began during his playing career at Saint Michael’s College in Vermont, where he was a standout forward and captain of the 1999 NCAA Division II National Championship team. After completing his playing career, he continued serving the sport he loved, spending 12 seasons coaching at his alma mater, including time as both an assistant coach and head coach.
His influence later became deeply rooted in New Hampshire hockey. Through his leadership with the Seacoast Spartans and Seacoast Performance Academy, Chris helped guide countless athletes through their development from youth levels to junior hockey and beyond. Many players went on to pursue collegiate and professional opportunities because of the foundation he helped create.
In early 2026, Chris was diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer, along with additional health complications. Despite hospitalizations, treatments, and significant medical challenges, he remained committed to his family, players, and community. The hockey world rallied around him, with supporters raising more than $170,000 through a fundraising campaign and organizing a charity hockey event in his honor.
After returning home to spend meaningful time with his loved ones, Chris was later hospitalized after developing sepsis. Surrounded by family, he peacefully passed away following a decision to focus on comfort care.
Chris leaves behind his wife, Aurelia Davidson, and their four children, Deke, Berk, Cora, and Auvi, along with countless players, coaches, colleagues, and friends whose lives he impacted.
