According to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office, the devastating incident occurred in the 300 block of Black Avenue at a property the family had recently acquired. Reports indicate the house had previously suffered fire damage in January and was later condemned by city authorities due to safety concerns.

Officials say Ross was inside the structure alongside an adult family member when the building suddenly gave way at approximately 2:51 p.m. The collapse happened without warning, trapping those inside.

Emergency crews responded quickly to the scene, but despite their efforts, Ross was pronounced dead at 3:25 p.m. The adult who was also present during the incident has not been publicly identified, and details regarding their condition have not been disclosed.

Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates confirmed the timeline of the tragedy, noting that the circumstances leading to the collapse are still being carefully examined.

Authorities are expected to review the safety conditions surrounding the renovation and whether any additional factors contributed to the collapse.
